1.Chinesewhohavejoinedforeignnationality.Accordingtothe"RegulationsontheAdministrationofPermanentResidentsofShanghai","Forthosewhogoabroadtosettledownorbecomeforeignnationals,theyshouldapplyforcancellationoftheirhouseholdregistrationatthepolicestationwheretheirhouseholdregistrationislocated."Youneedtocancelyouraccount,otherwiseyouwillnotbeabletoapply.
1.已加入外国国籍的华人。依据《上海市常住户口管理规定》，“出国定居者或加入外国国籍的，本人应当向户口所在地公安派出所办理注销户口登记。”加入外国国籍后，回到中国申请各类签证、居留许可等都需要注销户口，否则将无法申请。
2.OverseasChinesewhohavesettledabroad.Theapplicanthastherightofpermanentresidenceabroad,andhaslivedinthecountryfortwoconsecutiveyears,withatotalofnotlessthan18monthsinthetwoyears,andcanberecognizedasaresidentabroad,andthehouseholdregistrationmustbecancelled;theapplicanthasnotobtainedtherightofpermanentresidenceabroad,buthasobtainedlegalresidencestatusformorethan5consecutiveyears,andhaslivedinthecountryfornotlessthan30monthsintotalwithin5years,isregardedasanoverseasChinese,andisalsorecognizedasaresidentabroad.
2.出国定居的华侨。申请人具有国外的永久居留权，且在该国连续居住两年，两年内合计居住不少于18个月，可被认定为出国定居者，须注销户口；申请人未获得国外的永久居留权，但已取得连续5年以上的合法居留资格，5年内在该国合计居住不少于30个月，被视为华侨，同样被认定为出国定居者。

注销中国户口≠注销中国国籍。在国外定居的或持有国外绿卡的华人华侨同胞可能会有所担忧，注销户口后您仍然是中国公民，仍然持有中国护照，享有国家赋予的身份权利，只是不再享有户口所在地所赋予的福利。
